ESCRIBANO Mechanical & Engineering has participated in the NATO Summit, held last week in Madrid, presenting a national anti-drone project and exhibiting some of its complex Defense systems. Indra and Telefónica/Dept. of Interior have also been part of the C-UAS exhibition presenting also two more C-UAS projects.

The project launched by ESCRIBANO M&E, CERVUS III, is a control system for remote equipment and unmanned electronic surveillance vehicles driven by the 31st Regiment of the Spanish Army and TRC. The integration of the OTEOS optronic system and ESCRIBANO M&E‘s GUARDIAN 2.0 remote station (selected in the 8X8 ‘Dragon’ vehicle) in this program results in a complete C-UAS anti-drone solution as it includes the possibility to hard kill RPAS threats.

The exhibition, in which Indra explained its ARMS (Anti-RPAS Multisensor System) solution and Telefónica/Dept. of Interior did the same with the SIGLO-CD (Global Anti-Drone System) project, was visited by the different international delegations and NATO personalities, as well as by some authorities of the Spanish Government. Margarita Robles, Minister of Defense, was able to see first-hand these national industrial development projects currently applied in our Armed Forces and State Security Forces and Corps.

Complex defense systems

In addition, during the exhibition, ESCRIBANO M&E showcased some of the advanced defense systems developed at its facilities in Alcalá de Henares, including its FGK, an ammunition guidance system with GPS sensor, GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite) and inertial navigation (INS). Elements such as the control and guidance section, the development of algorithms, impact prediction, dynamic flight simulation and sensors contribute to the guided ammunition kit’s effective launch accuracy, thus reducing the number of shots needed to destroy a target and minimizing collateral damage.

The company also showed its APOLO and OTEOS cameras. The first is a gyro-stabilized electro-optical system with infrared sensors and telemetry for observation, surveillance or target acquisition missions, which can be integrated into the firing direction of land, naval and air platforms, providing great accuracy and range. With respect to the OTEOS, it is an observation and tracking system, specially designed to be fitted in fixed positions or integrated in land or naval platforms and vehicles. It is a stabilized modular platform, equipped with the latest optronic sensor technology in the visible and infrared band to increase its capacity for detection range, high-definition resolution for identification and automatic target tracking.

Also on display at the exhibition was ESCRIBANO M&E‘s GUARDIAN 2.0, a two-axis gyro-stabilized remote weapon station, with a modular and lightweight design, which can be integrated on a wide range of vehicles and platforms. It can operate 5’56mm, 7’62mm, 12’7mm and MK19 40mm grenade launchers, as well as grenade launchers.
